Proof of name and address

Please provide one acceptable document showing your name and address, such as:

• A driving licence

• A utility bill, Council Tax bill or rates bill dated within the last 6 months

• A bank or building society statement dated within the last 6 months

• A national identity card showing the required details

The name should match the person ordering the plates and, where applicable, the name shown on the entitlement documentation.

A passport on its own is not sufficient for our name-and-address verification, as it does not show your address.

Proof of entitlement to the registration

You must also provide a document showing that you are entitled to use the registration number.

Accepted documents can include:

• V5C or V5CNI vehicle registration certificate

• Green new keeper slip from a V5C or V5CNI

• V750 or V750NI certificate of entitlement

• V778 retention document

• V11 or V11NI vehicle tax/SORN reminder

• V379 or V379NI temporary registration certificate

• V948 number plate authorisation certificate carrying the appropriate official stamp

• eV948 or eV948/2 electronic number plate authorisation certificate

• A qualifying letter of authorisation from a fleet, lease or hire company quoting the V5C document reference number

• Where applicable, a PDF from the DVLA View Vehicle Record service for vehicles using the V5C on-demand scheme

• UK Trailer Registration Certificate (VTRC)

How you can provide your documents

You do not necessarily have to provide your documents in the same way for every order.

Depending on the document type, you may be able to:

• Upload documents securely online using the link provided after checkout

• Email an acceptable electronic or PDF document to us where that document can legitimately be supplied in electronic form

• Send the required documents to us for inspection

• Show the original documents to us in person when collecting your plates

Some document types must be seen in their original or officially issued form. Where an uploaded, emailed or copied document is not sufficient, we will contact you and explain what we need before manufacturing the plates.

Online verification

After payment, we provide a secure document-upload facility.

Uploaded documents may first go through an automated pre-check to help identify the document type and flag obvious issues. A member of our team remains responsible for the final verification decision.

If a document is unclear, incomplete, unsuitable or does not match the registration ordered, we may ask you to provide another document.

Your order will be held while verification is completed — it will not automatically be cancelled.

Multiple registrations

If your order contains more than one registration number, we need suitable proof of entitlement for each individual registration.

For example, entitlement documents supplied for one registration cannot automatically be used as proof of entitlement for another registration in the same order.

Record keeping

As a registered number plate supplier, we maintain the records required under the Registered Number Plate Supplier scheme.

This includes details of the registration number supplied and the documents used to confirm identity and entitlement.

Records are stored securely and retained for the period required under the applicable regulations and RNPS requirements.
